He swallowed again.

"Are you sure?" He looked into the knight's eyes, willing him to change his answer.

Bran had arrived at Camelot barely three months ago, and it was clear that he idolized the Crown Prince.

"Yes, sire." The young man sounded painfully earnest. "It was indeed sorcery; I saw it with my own eyes."

Arthur's lips were set in a thin line. How could Bran spend so much time under his command, and not realize how much Merlin meant to him?

"Very well." Arthur's voice was flat. "I will inform my father of this matter personally. You’re dismissed."

Notes: Written for camelotremix @ AO3. This ended up being a not-so-ambitious remix*, employing pov change and tone change (and a bit of structural change) but keeping the main action more or less the same. I was possibly too enamored by the notion of Arthur and Merlin skipping stones together.
* I love writing vignette-y remixes, but that wasn't my vision for this particular story (for once).
